What the data shows

The market is bigger — and newer — than most people realise. Of the 95 operators we track, established dates range from as far back as 1999 to brand-new 2026 arrivals. At least 13 launched within the last year alone. A flood of new entrants is exactly why a short track record should make you cautious, not excited.

Most operators are transparent — but not all. 86 of 95 operators (91%) link a public Trustpilot profile you can scrutinise. That means 9 (9%) don't — and a missing, hard-to-find review trail is one of the first things we treat as a caution flag.

We don't hand out five stars for showing up. The average editorial rating across the 95 operators we've scored is 4.13 out of 5, but 21 sit below 4.0 — because our score measures risk to you, not how loudly winners cheer. A site can have thousands of glowing reviews and still carry structural concerns (hard-to-cancel subscriptions, unverifiable draws, a buried free-entry route). See exactly how we review.

What we deliberately don't claim

Honesty cuts both ways. We only publish figures we can verify from our own reviews and public records — company registration, Trustpilot linkage, editorial ratings, established year. We do not put a headline number on things we can't yet verify site-by-site at scale (for example, the exact share of operators offering a genuine free postal route). When we can stand a number up, it's here; when we can't, we won't invent one to make a better headline. That's the whole point of the report.

How this data is gathered

Every operator is reviewed by hand against the same published methodology — we check Companies House, read the site's own terms, work through its full Trustpilot history, and factor in media coverage. No operator can pay for a better score or ranking. Reviews carry a last-updated date and are revisited when something material changes.
