Why we rate it that way

Hobby Comps is a small, well-documented RC-prize operator. NSComps Ltd's Companies House record shows accounts made up to February 2026, one Covent Garden address runs through the footer and the terms, and the site says it has signed the government's voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. Each draw is streamed live on Facebook, entry lists go up at least an hour beforehand, and a competition that does not sell out is drawn anyway. The results page names the last 50 winners with ticket numbers and draw-video links. Trustpilot reviewers mostly write about speed: a monster truck delivered within two days, a cash alternative paid inside an hour. Nobody in the past year says a prize went missing, and the one courier loss in July 2025 ended with a replacement. The main caveat is age: the home page claims a 2020 start, but the registered company dates from February 2024 and no earlier Hobby Comps company turns up on Companies House. The review base is also small at 247. The terms rule out prize alternatives while product pages advertise £500 or £775 cash instead, so ask before you rely on it. Caps run from 125 to 1,450 tickets, and RC kit is a niche prize list. Spending limits are available per account, and half the live competitions cost 99p.

About Hobby Comps

Hobby Comps is a London-registered prize-draw site built for radio-control enthusiasts. Most of its prizes are RC cars, trucks and buggies from Arrma, Traxxas, Tamiya and Axial, with LEGO sets, Pokemon cards and the occasional Steam Deck filling out the list. Paid tickets run from 99p to £3.99, plus a free-entry competition, each draw carries a fixed ticket cap, and the winner is picked live on Facebook each Monday and Thursday. It scores 4.9 on Trustpilot from about 250 reviews (October 2026), nearly all about prizes that turned up within days. The company behind it was only registered in February 2024.

Is Hobby Comps legit?

It holds 4.9 there from 247 reviews. Every draw is streamed on Facebook, recent winners are listed with their ticket numbers and video links, and the terms set out a free postal route. Two points to bear in mind: the site's claimed 2020 start predates the registered company by four years, and the terms contradict the product pages on cash alternatives. Neither points to a scam, but both are worth knowing before you buy.
Pros
  • +A 4.9 Trustpilot score, with reviewers repeatedly describing prizes delivered within 24 to 72 hours of the draw.
  • +Small ticket caps (125 to 1,450 on 30 October 2026) with a live tickets-remaining counter, and a draw that goes ahead even when a competition does not sell out.
  • +Live Facebook draws every Monday and Thursday, entry lists posted at least an hour before, and a public results page naming each recent winner by ticket.
  • +Spending limits and an account lock under My Account, a free postal route, and a £0.00 competition open to registered members at the time of checking (Axial SCX24, 30 October 2026).
Cons
  • −The home page says 'Established 2020', but NSComps Ltd was only incorporated in February 2024 at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden.
  • −A small review base: 247 reviews in total, 43 in the last 12 months, and Trustpilot flags that the company has not invited customers recently.
  • −The terms (clause 8.2) say no alternatives are offered, yet product pages advertise cash alternatives of £500 and £775 on request; the per-person paid ticket limit is mentioned but never stated.
  • −The prize list is mostly RC models, which one longer-term reviewer found repetitive, and the winners page shows no draw dates.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hobby Comps legit?+

No reviewer in the past year reports an unpaid prize, and the company behind the site, NSComps Ltd (15459974), has filed accounts up to February 2026. Draws are streamed live on Facebook and winners are listed with ticket numbers. The caveats are a company only registered in February 2024, a small review base and a terms clause that contradicts the advertised cash alternatives.

How do Hobby Comps draws work?+

You register an account, answer a multiple-choice skill question (an arithmetic question on the product pages checked) and buy tickets. Once the competition closes, the winner is chosen with Google's random number generator during a Facebook live stream, held every Monday and Thursday; competitions typically close at 8pm, per the product pages. Entry lists are published at least an hour before. If tickets do not sell out the draw still happens; if they sell out early, it is brought forward.

Can you enter Hobby Comps for free?+

Post an unenclosed picture postcard to 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, one entry per card, matched to an active account and arriving before the competition closes (clause 5.10 of the terms). Clause 5.5 caps free entries at one per person per competition, though 5.10(b) ties the postal limit to the paid-entry limit, so check the competition page. The site also runs £0.00 competitions limited to one entry per person, such as the Axial SCX24 truck listed in October 2026 with 750 tickets.

How quickly does Hobby Comps send prizes?+

The terms give no timescale, but reviewers describe fast dispatch: a 4 October 2026 review says an RC monster truck arrived within two days, and a 27 September 2026 review reports delivery in under 48 hours including a Sunday. Cash alternatives on smaller prizes are described as paid within the hour. Vehicles have to be collected, or delivered at the winner's expense, under clause 9.1.

Does Hobby Comps offer a cash alternative?+

Product pages say yes, 'upon winner request': £500 instead of a Steam Deck, £775 instead of an Arrma Infraction bundle. Clause 8.2 of the T&Cs says the opposite, that no alternatives are offered under any circumstance. Reviewers do report cash alternatives being paid, but if the cash matters to you, confirm with the team at info@hobbycomps.co.uk before you enter.

Trust Notes

PDD Trust Score 4.4/5 · Trustpilot 4.9. Strengths: NSComps Ltd (15459974) has accounts made up to 28 February 2026 and a confirmation statement filed 2 March 2026. The same Shelton Street address appears in the footer, the privacy policy and the terms. Trustpilot shows 247 reviews in total. The only one-star review dates from August 2024 and was answered, and no review from the past year reports a missing prize. Reviewers describe delivery within 24 to 72 hours and a cash alternative paid within the hour. Every competition shows a fixed cap (125 to 1,450 tickets on 30 October 2026) with a live remaining count. The results page lists 50 recent winners with Facebook draw-video links, and entry lists go up an hour before each streamed draw. Free postal entry is set out in clause 5.10. The safer-play page offers spending limits and an account lock and links to GamCare, Money Advice Trust and Mind. The footer says the site is a signatory of the government's Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. No ASA ruling was found. What keeps the score from going higher: the site dates itself to 2020, but the only company found was incorporated in February 2024, so pre-2024 trading is unverified. The review base is small, 247 in total and 43 in the past year, and Trustpilot notes the company has not invited reviews recently. The terms rule out alternatives while product pages advertise cash ones. The per-person paid ticket limit in clause 3.10 has no number. The winners page shows no draw dates. The Facebook page could not be read, so live-draw videos were not viewed directly. Checked 30 October 2026.
